Rambo788 Extracter broken-options?
What can be done so it does not fail again?
Is it the same part as the 700?
The rifle is a .223

J WisnerIf you keep breaking this extractor. I suspect that due to hot loads or a rusty chamber you have also broken or tore part of the bolt lip that holds the extractor in place.
If this is the case then there are only two ways to fix the problem.
Weld the broken bolt rim up and recut the old extractor slot, then put a new extractor in. As far as I know I am the only one around that does this type of work. Brownells is the only one who makes the riveted M700 type extractor in the 223 size.
Rehead the bolt. This is done only in my shop and we will then go to the current M700 rivetless extractor.
