7x7royalTC 22 Classic and TC R55 questions
Have owned a TC Classic 22RF since 2002 and it's very accurate and always works if fed quality (not Remington Thunderbolt) ammo. Recently I purchased a TC R55 (looks just like the Classic).
When I took it apart for a clean and lube, I found that TC had changed the operating system from a blowback with the operating spring behind the bolt to a system with two dovetails cut in the bottom of the barrel carrying two dovetailed
studs that house a long pin on which rides a spring to return an operating rod that would remind you of an M-1 carbine (except the TC is blowback not gas operated).
Anyone have any idea why the change was made ?
Cutting dovetails in thin barrels and hanging moving parts off a light weight barrel does not seem a good plan for accuracy.
