Proper glass bedding new Win 70 Safari Express
I have a new Winchester model 70 Safari Express in 375 H&H on the way. I have always glass bedded and free floated my hunting rifles & I'm assuming this rifle will have the usual hot glue bedding around the recoil lugs. Since this rifle has dual recoil lugs, with one halfway down the barrel, what is the proper way to bed it? Thanks.

The newer model 70s that I've seen have no longer use the hot glue bedding. Several have been glass bedded from the factory.

I took mine to my gunsmith to be glass bedded. He told me that it already was bedded and needed nothing.

I think the question is "do you bet the barrel lug also". I bedded mine to and including the barrel lug.

Yes, you bed the second recoil lug. Tape the front, sides and bottom of it for a little clearance, just like you would the action recoil lug.

That is, of course, if it is not bedded already, or very well fit.
