Smith Corona Barrels
I just picked up an old sporterized '03 action with a Smith Corona barrel. It was rechambered for 308 Norma Magnum and appears to be a classic example of early '60s workmanship. Does anyone have any comments as to the quality of the SC barrels? ... keep it or scrap it?

I had a SC springfield and it shot quite well. Take it out and try it. It just might surprise you.

That's part of my concern ... I've taken it out with 165 gr Hornady and Sierra bullets as well as 180 gr Sierras. The best I got was about 2.5" for 4 shots at 100 yds. I'm going to change out my scope, then work on the stock ... if that doesn't work, I'll go barrel. What I was trying to find out, was if SC was a known "dog" or not.

I have never heard anything bad about the SC's, quite the contrary, I always heard they had better Qc than most.

Good info guys, thanks. It looks like I'll start with the stock and work to the scope.
