Mauser 91 scope mount questions
I know I asked this on here before, but my friend with the 91 argentine mauser really wants a scope on it, as the rifle was given to him by an old friend who has passed on and he wants to hunt with it. He told me before his friend passed away he had told him of a side mount for the 91, does anyone know where one can be found? I still cant locate an aftermarket safety for it, so bending the bolt is not an option right now, but if I could mount a side mount scope on it he would be pleased.

Any help or suggestions?
Good luck and good shooting,
Eterry

Williams Gunsight Company says their SM-70 mount will work with the M-91. I'd call them and check -- S40

Another option would be to mount the scope on the barrel ahead of the receiver, scout rifle style. You'll need to use an intermediate eye relief scope. No modifications to the action necessary.

I know a good (but really busy) gunsmith in Wichita Falls that could do it for you either way you go.

Get the bases for the M96. They will fit.

I will look into the Williams side mount base. Mark, who is the 'smith you know in Wichita Falls? I know most of them and have used a couple, there is one that does very good work but is backed WAAAAYYYY up.
thanks for the info,
Eterry

Mark, Freddy is a good friend and lodge brother of mine, I have known him for over 10 years, which isnt long considering how OLD he is....
He is top-drawer smith, is the only one in town I trust and is one of the best shots I know, but like most good 'smiths is backed way up. He swears he is going to get my 416 Taylor out of his shop for me to hunt with it this fall, and I hope he does. I could go on about Freddy with some funny stories but will save them for another time.

Good luck and good shooting,
