Gipson rifles
A few months ago a friend of mine acquired a custom rifle built on a Mauser 98 action. It had a half octagon, half round barrel. It had a beautiful stock with schnable forend and nicely executed checkering. It was marked Gipson Rifles on the barrel. Does anyone know who the builder may be?

There was a gunmaker from before and after 1940 by the name of Vernor Gipson who never seemed to stay in one place long enough for me to learn much about him. He work for or was in partners with several people in Michigan, Illinois and Indiana. There are a couple dozen older wildcat cartridges with his name on them.

If you can send me a picture I would try to ID the stockmaker if you think it's an older stock.

Vernor Gipson is, I believe, one of the guys who claimed to have been the originator of the .22/250, along with a few other fellows like Gebby, Watson, etc.

Keith Gipson, was and may still be the coordinator of the gunsmithing program at Trinidad State...? Or does the era not match?
