What is this all coming too? The prices some of these are bringing is totally insane.
Gunbroker auction just closed with a standard grade 338 win mag selling for 6650.00. Nothing special just a plain ol' 338

I ran across a transition pre '64 yesterday at a local shop. 220 Swift, looked pretty much all original, and in good shape. $1200 was the asking price. If anybody might be interested, send me a PM.

I think these prices are rediculas, and anyone that pays that much must have money shooting out of their butt, and isnt too smart.

There was a old timer board member at my gun club range last time I was there that had a pre 64 338 at home He wanted to sell for $500. I think I will contact him.

I was going to part out a pre-64 Westerner in .264 next week and just keep the action for myself. THe bore has some pits as well as light pitting around th emuzzle. The stock and action are totally cherry. I REALLY wanted to build a personal rifle on the action, but will sell it if I can make enough money. I only have $350 in it, including the 3-9 Leupold.

I saw one of those, not a G&H custom but just a standard I think, either on AA or GB auctions and IIRC it had a Buy it now, shomwhere in the 3500.00 range. A very ood duck to say the least.

The G&H work doesn't add to the value of a freak like that .... if the metal is unaltered I'd buy a good M70 factory stock on ebay for it and then use the G&H wood to build up a custom rifle. But I suppose that G&H put their side mount onto it.

Did I rock the boat or what? After 35 years of pre-64-70 collecting I must admit I have seen a couple of fakes and parts guns. What I see many times on some sites or face to face sales is just greed; a parts gun or somebody's imagination at work. I recently asked some very specific questions of a seller and got some not so nice answers. At the prices I have seen you can fly to the guys place, examine the gun and fly home and still be ahead of the game. The frenzy is real as a fellow who wanted all his life to have a few pre-64's just took a second mortgage on his house for a purchase that several knowledgeable people adived him not to do. Oh well!!

Buddy, I have been doing the collecting thingy for about 45 years and I just don't understand some of these buyers and even worse is some of the dirtbag sellers
Hell, eBay is the pre-64 parts broker, a standard stock with some dings and scratches didn't meet the reserve at around 700.00
I just wish I had kept a few of the odd ball pre-64's until now insted of selling them off a few years ago when I thought I was making a huge profit

Jimmyd223; Did you happen to see the bid on ebay for a pre-64 short magazine for 243-208? Last I saw was $152.00. As I told my family the other day; Hell I'm worth a million today so you better get rid of me and start selling guns. My wife laughed and said: "Hell no your not going anywhere soon, I'm keeping you here to torture you some more".
