Calling Lester Brooks for an opinion
I mentioned on the "big bore" forum that there might be a bit more to fitting up a .458WM as a .458 Lott than reaming it and checking the magazine and stock fit and got lambasted.
As I recall at TSJC we were pointed at a lot of other minor things one might look at that will add up as opposed to buying a reamer, from Brownells, running it in and out, and hoping. Did I remember wrong?
Cheers and thanks for teaching me how to do some stuff right way back when.

LesBrooksI have to turn the big stuff over to my friend Jeffeosso. He can answer most of the questions on the canons. I have forgotten more than I can remember. Ha Ha Too much recoil!!
My 17 and 20 cal.'s are keeping the elephants away from my PD mounds. I hope to be back in New Mexico the summer if diesel doesn't go to $5 a gallon.
Just going from 458 WM to a Lott is just running in the reamer. Getting the Lott rounds to feed is another story. I had to cut back the rails on a CZ about half an inch and file down the feed ramp some. Of course, if you over do it, you have to throw it away and start over!

Some people can ring and bearing a motor with no machine work but they aren't usually the people that do the job once in their whole lifetime. Fair enough? No need to throw anything away, just adjust barrel length if need be. Reamer kit and probable no lathe situation isn't exactly the same as having Shilen rechamber the barrel for you if that Shilen still took on that type of work...
