Weaver Mount Replacements
I bought my son a nice Mauser in .270 for his B'Day this week. Nice, except it has old Weaver mouuts 20 (F) and 26 (R). Leupold two piece will not work on the spacing. What one piece or other two piece mounts will work?

Thanks,

Jim

Thanks, but I would rather ditch the Weaver's totally!

Did you try asking the tech staff at Brownells?

I would consider the Conetrol's if I knew the spacing on the bases were equal to the Weaver bases. That is the problem.

I have contacted the Brownell's Tech staff and am awaiting an answer, but thought surely one of the members here had solved this problem previously. I do not wish to add extra holes in the action.

Might help if you posted the rear hole spaceing and why the luepolds dont fit.

If the rear is .5" space and you have a charger hump, Redfield 2 piece has a short rear that will fit

If your Mauser had #26 & 20 those are not the correct weaver bases for a Mauser.

I agree they are not the the correct mauser bases, they are .5 inches screw spacing on both front and rear. The front mount screw is oversized; I have not measured it yet but will do so.

Goes to show some deals have the hidden flaw. This is not insurmountable, but I would like to find different mounts that will work.
