TSJKAR 98
I barreled a KAR 98 smallring to 256 newton awhile ago. It made up into a wonderfull trim, smooth little rifle. as I had no intention of hot loads I never gave it a secong thought. Now I am curious, how strong is this action?

There are a LOT of unsafe large thread-small ring M-98s around. They were casehardened only and the thin ring is sometimes way too brittle. I've seen one that *looked* original that wasn't heat treated at all....I still don't totally believe that one, it was a long time ago.

Major CaliberThe KAR 98 is weaker than most M98's, it is a small ring action with large ring threads. This leaves very little metal in the receiver ring.

jeffeossoHey ya'll..
I haven't heard much of this one, is the .256 newton a .257 or .264? quickload, not the endall, but a decent program, calls it a .264.
i can run a quickload for you, if you email and tell me that you would like that. what bullets/powders would you like? I would suggest keeping it under 45kpsi
