Best Gunsmith I ever knew went to the one in Trinidad, Colorado. Colorada School of Trades or something like that.

Does this mean that there is a lot of good gunsmiths in Colorado?

In Colorado there is the Colorado School of trades in Lakewood, CO and the Trinidad State Junior College School of Gunsmithing. The School of Trades program is around 15 months and the TSJ program is a full two year program. TSJ also offers the NRA summer gunsmithing courses. I'm attending the two week stockmaking course in a month and can't wait! Check TSJ out here:

David, who is teaching that class? I took one in fitting barrels from Mark Stratton a few years ago and he is doing it again. Wish I had the time to be going there myself.

They have a great facility there.

Lassen Community College in Susanville, Ca has an excellent full two year program. I believe it's the only one west of the Rockies.

Chic,
Dave Nolan is teaching the stockmaking class. I have heard nothing but positive about the NRA summer courses at TSJC and look foward to furthering my skills. Hopefully I'll be able to take a few more classes in the future.

Brownells has a listing of all the places that offer courses in gunsmithing- You will get out of any of these schools what You put into it, whichever school you attend do any and all work that you are allowed. I went to the Colorado School of Trades in Lakewood (Denver) a lot of "hands on" training.
