Firing pin strike slightly off center, matters?

My 270 win striks just off center on the primer, I just noticed when I was looking at some once fired's today, does that matter? it is just slight and is consistent. all primers hit the same offcenter spot.

Its probably because the loaded round is laying in the bottom of the chamber.
Try resizing the case to max. headspace load and fire the round. if that doesnt help the a little off center wont matter.

Functionally it's not very important.

I have seen many like that shoot and function well.

Just about every rifle I've ever had is a little off-center. It doesn't hurt accuracy or reliability.

If the rifle shoots accurately, do not change a thing! I have had several rifles with the same characteristic and all were sub MOA shooters. It is not an issue as long as the accuracy is consistent! If it ain't broken, don't fix it!

Personally I have seen very few impacts on absolute dead centre. You could fix it if it was really necessary but it would cost more than you will gain. Well,unless you are obssesive!

Thanks all, I figured it didn't matter. The rifle has been first rate from the beginning. steel sights right now and I am not a great shot so can't say how it groups, but it always hits what it's aimed at. Never a functional problem,ever. I actually bought it to use the action from it, but made the mistake of shooting it

Not as long as ignition is reliable, unless you are competing in benchrest matches, in which case it MIGHT be. But I am not sure that this has been proven to be of significance even then.

I had a Ruger 77 MKII in .270 that was what I would consider grossly off center, and it was a super shooter, so it evidently doesn't matter. It must have been made on Monday, because the extractor wouldn't jump over the rim when single fed, which Ruger's modified Mauser should do, but as long as it came from the mag, all was well.
