REm 700 and Colt interchange??
Will a rem 700 replacement such as a rifle basix fit a colt light rifle? I've been told a replacement trigger for a 700 will also fit a colt..How low will this (the rifle basix) adj. and still be safe?? advise asap ,, thnax, Doc Stone

I'm 99% sure the Colt uses a Remington style trigger. So a Rifle Basix for a Remington will work. Some one with 100% certainty should chime in soon though.

What is wrong with the Colt trigger? I know the ones I have fooled with seemed ok but had a lot of slack side to side. That was very odd to me. I have only seen a very few of these rifles though. I have know idea if this slop can be taken out with shims or something either. It should be easy to fix I would think.

Yes, the Colt is set up to take Rem 700 triggers. I haven't swapped mine but I spoke to Mel Forbes, who designed the gun for Colt, and he said it would. For the record, he did not design that trigger; Colt did it after he left. Mel also sells UltraLight rifle stocks that the the Colt drops into if you want a better, lighter stock. Good luck.

Thanx very much guys.. I have a couple extra 700 stock triggers that were adjusted to about 1 3/4lbs, so if they would go on as is that would probably fix this itch. The colt trigger on there now is a strange looking dude w/ a big heavy spring controlling the trigger pull that I see no way to adjust.. again thanx, Doc Stone
