<nated>10mm in a 40
hear me out first:
talked to a buddy in town and he said that swapping a barrel and recoil springs could turn a heavy framed 40 into a 10mm. any thoughts? thanks,
would a sig or H&K be good for this?

<MontanaMarine>How would you fit the 10mm magazine in a mag well designed for a .40?
If you seat the bullets deep enough to fit in a .40 magazine, what will you gain?

<MontanaMarine>The more I think about it, I do remember reading about a pistol built on a 1911 colt format. It fired .357 Sig, .40 SW, and 10mm.
It did have 3 different barrels. Cant remember about magazines nad recoil springs.
Most pistols designed around the .40 SW cartridge would be too small to house the 10mm round. Since the 1911 format is designed around the .45ACP(same length as 10mm), it works.

<nated>MT marine,
that's the point i was getting at: you could have ONE gun that shoots 357 mag eqiviliant in a mag reloadable gun that also shoots two of the hottest loads to hit the market in years. in a 1911, you may even still be able to shoot .45. yeah, just some food for thought. if you could remember that magazine, i'd be very interested in it. thanks, nate

<nated>did some looking, but can't find out if a usp 40 slide will fit onto a 45 lower. does anyone have both? and do they fit? thanx

fredj338Nated, they are different size frames & slides. The only pistol that I am aware of that you could do this with is a 1911 or clone. The mags are sim. but I think you the release cuts are different.

<MontanaMarine>Nated,
It was in a shooting magazine, Maybe Shooting Times, or maybe Combat Handguns, or maybe Handguns. Sorry I cannot remember, it was around the '95-'97 timeframe that I saw the article.
Good Luck, MM
