Mauser 98 Cocking Piece?
I'm really showing my ignorance here... I have two FN commercial actions and another action that doesn't have a cocking piece. I've got some new military style bolt shrouds for them and I want to have a Wisner two position safety installed. Will the commercial FN cocking pieces work in conjunction with this conversion or do I need to find a military cocking piece. I'll need to buy a cocking piece for the action that doesn't have one, any recommendations? Thanks, again...

The FN piece should work. Issue you run into is on some of the MKXs that have a speedlock or quicklock (can't remember what they call it). The cocking piece on them is a different shape to allow shorter pin fall.

As usual just my $.02

They will work but like Ramrod said a bit of mod will be necessary with the Mk-X. I have a few ready to go now.

I have used the Wisner safeties on two commercial FN's with no problems whatsoever using the original cocking pieces.

True enough, but the Zastava's with the speed-lok are a whole different ball game.

Yep the speed-lok is on the right.

This speed-lok has been cut to work with a Dakota 3 position. To get it to work with a 2 position I would "assume" you would need to cut a recess along the top similar to this side cut.

You are correct in your assumption, almost a quarter inch.

Good info guys, thanks. Jim, I have and unissued shroud and a the safety kit already. Are you tool up to do a conversion? I don't need it blued.

I have some done already, could work out some kind of a swap although mine are blued.
