<9.3x62>Barrel painting tricks?
What are the do's and dont's of painting a bead-blasted stainless barrel? Is just rust-oleum in camo colors gonna cause any trouble? Snipers do it all the time... Thoughts? TIA...

Allan DeGrootDO make sure you use a stong degreasing solvent before painting.
DO NOT expect to get all the paint off of a bead blasted barrel without bead blasting again.

Terry BlauwkampGo to the hardware and get some Black Matte GAS GRILL paint.
Very tough, and can take the heat.

Head TraumaTry to find some Plasti-kote flat black engine enamel at the auto parts store (#230 flat black). Easy to use, very pleasing matte finish, bake small parts at 300 degrees for an hour, put the barreled action in the sun on a hot day after you have painted it. After curing it is hard as nails. Simple, low tech, easy.

tiggertateStand the barrel vertically and paint it with vertical strokes. You'll get a much more even coat with less chance of runs than holding it horizontal and making sideways passes.

ramrod340And as the instructions say. Use a number of light passes.
