M70 Push Feed Ejector help

I'm having trouble getting the ejector retaining pin out of the bolt body. Don't want to heat it up, as it's near the locking lugs. I did put slight reward pressure on the ejector while tapping the pin, to no avail. It's soaking in Kroil right now, but it's tight enough to bend a Proto 1/16" pin punch. Any suggestions?

Try pushing it out with a punch from the other side. For some reason I have found they only come out one way.

I tried that also Jim. Any other suggestions? Worse case, I have temp indicator sticks. Would 350 be too hot on the locking lugs?

Make yourself a very short, 3/32 - 1/8 inch starter punch. Wrap a thin piece of cereal box type of cardboard around the bolt body and clamp it low and tightly in the vise so that the pin is barely above and facing the jaw. Insert the short punch in the hole and give it a good whack with a ball peen hammer. It may take two whacks but it will get it started.

Yes, use the starter punch; it will come out. Or just leave it in.

I'll give it a try Tuesday. I'm in Vegas for a couple of days. I'll let it soak for a while. Do you know if it has to be driven one way or the other?
