DavidCNP3 coating question
Anyone have experience with NP3 coating?
I am thinking of having the internals (bolt & inside of receiver) on a couple of actions coated. I am particularly interested in it's wear characteristics. How well does it hold up on sharp corners, lugs, lug recesses, raceways and all high wear areas?
I would like to use NP3 in conjunction with blueing. ie...NP3 on all internals & blueing on all external areas.
Any input would be appreciated.
Regards,
Dave

John RicksHighly recommended. Best approach is black Robar Roguard exterior and NP3 internals. See this post:http://www.nookhill.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=008575#000000
Forget about bluing, go with black Robar Roguard.

GPTI have used Robar's NP3 finish on a few different rifles as well as handguns and I love it.
I have one rifle that is all NP3 and it has stood up very well to 11 years of use and abuse without wearing through the finish.
I have two rifles that are NP3 on the internals and bolts and RoGuard on the externals. This is very attractive and it is a good option if you do not want a matt grey colored rifle.

RancherJohn,
Do you have any contact info for the Robar process?
Thanks,

DB BillStandard on the Lazzeroni rifles.....I have two and it is the greatest finish around as nothing seems to stick to it and it has great "lubricity"...very, very slick.

Todd CI have a 1911 and a couple rifles done with the NP3. Still looks great and clean up only takes a paper towel.

<Jordan>I had MP3 on the bolt and extractor on an Interarms Mini-mauser about 7-8 years ago. It peeled badly. I was not impressed. The product or application may have improved since then, or maybe I was just unlucky.

DavidCHas anyone used NP3 in conjuction with blueing?
I was wondering how the two would work.
Does one blue the recever then coat with NP3 or coat with NP3 then Blue?

Dave
