Always something!
I have a Mod 70 style action. apparently made in Europe. Everything is taking rust blue except the bottom metal...Oh yes, the extended tang I welded on IS taking the blue.

Cerakote seems overkill...Any rattle can paint come to mind that is pretty durable?

Take it to MAACO auto painting and have them shoot it with two-part trim black.

I have had pretty good luck using SEM products, available at auto paint suppliers and online. They have an aerosol acid etching primer in black or grey, I use black for the base color coat and then use their aerosol Trim Black for the final coat. Degrease and warm your metal before spraying, and it looks very much like matte blueing, very smooth. Using the acid etching primer as the base coat gives it bite. This a'int cheap Krylon rattle can, it generally runs about $25 a can.
