Trigger Guard for a Mauser 98
All,
I have searched and not found much info on bottom metal / trigger guard for Mauser 98's. I am looking for a hinged floorplate and perferably a longer mag well. I have seen people mention "Blackburn Bottom Metal" and have seen it priced at Hill Country Rifles but have yet to find where to buy them directly. I am building a 25-06 AI and the longer mag well would be great and I would like a hinged floorplate as well. Any help would be appreciated.

One last thing, I have seen the Sunny Hill model for $415 which seems steep and the Aluminum model from PAWS at Brownells for $78 or so. I do not know if the PAWS model has a hinged floorplate and if you can get it with no engraving. If anyone has expierence with the PAWS model then that would be noce to learn about as well.

Thanks and Cheers,
Jason

This was discussed some time back. If you do a search, there should be references to pictures.

Numrich has some newly manufactured bottom metal and Bob's Gun Parts in Arkansas has some Commercial FN bottom metal --

The aluminum one from brownells is hinged and opens easily. It reduces the overall weight. It is not available unengraved. I have used several on utility hunting rifles in composite stocks and they look alright. I would not use them in a show peice as they are anodized aluminum and don't look as good as blued metal. They are also full 30.06 size which requires slight modification to the lower edge of the feed ramp (easily done).

You might also try Sunny Hill Enterprises. The have them with standard magazines magnum magazines. Kind of pricy, but they look nice.
