98 receiver, LACORUNA 1954, any good?
I got a couple stripped receivers 1953 and 1954 for 2/$15 at the gunshow this morning.

Are these any good for building a rifle?
I already have lots of VZ24s, 03 and 38 Turks, JP Saurs, and Swedes waiting to be sporertized, so I don't want to waste my time if these L A Coruna recievers are no good.

I barrelled up a '54 in 338/06 for a friend a few years ago. It made up into a very accurate sporter capable of sub 1" groups with 210 grain partitions. I would check the lug recesses for signs of set-back. Since it was stripped, you will be acquiring another bolt, I always do the file test on the lugs, after that you are good to go. I had heard that some actions were soft, but don't know if it is true or a fallback on the old '93 receivers. I would not build a high dollar rifle on one, but for a good using gun, I would give it a shot. My .02. Lee.
