Refinishing Ruger Laminated Stocks
I am looking at installing a recoil pad (one that works unlike what comes from the factory) on a laminated No. 1 and simultaneously shortening the stock. Any problems with refinishing these stocks? Are they oil finished or polyurethaned (or what else) from the factory? Thanks.

Laminate is easy to match, use any clear finish thats handy..I like a polyurathane on lamintate as it has the best water proofing properties..Flecto is good.

I used plain ole Formby's satin polyurathane and buffed it out with fine steel wool until it matched. I was surprised at how well it matched, you couldn't tell it had ever been touched.
