22WRFMagnum to Non Magnum
Although it probably isn't practical, can one change a magnum bolt back to a non magnum bolt by welding and remachining or is there some reason why that couldn't be done?
The reason why I ask is becasue those little Winchester Actions that they use for their WSSM rifles would make great actions for non WSSM calibers but a person would have to make the bolt work somehow.

vapodogI too have looked at those WSSM bolts.....but I just shake my head and walk away.
I've converted a '98 mauser bolt by adding a Savage bolt head to it for the .223 Remington. An exercise in something other than intelligence I might add.
Anything can be done and that includes making an entirely new bolt.....eventually the cost thing takes over and we walk away.
There might be a way to make something useful of that thing but it hasn't found it's way into my dense head.
Look at the lossibility of soft soldering a ring on it. That has been done many times before on other appliocations.

WoodjackDo agood search on the Win. website and you find that they
do make a WSSM action size in .223rem (Coyote Lite Blued and stainless) Got to be easier than welding, machining, heat treat.

I see that. Only problem is that the .223 Rem chambering is on a Push Feed action and I want a Controlled Feed action to make a nice .250 Savage.

Any of the Winchester classic M-70 in .308 class cartridge will do the .250 Savage.

22WRFI want that tiny action they use for the WSSM cartriges, but in controlled round feed. I wonder if Winchester would sell a nonmagnum bolt for that action.

JarrodI dont want to be hunting anything on purpose with a 250 savage where I thought I would need a controlled round feed.

22WRFI don't "need" the controlled found feed. Rather, that is just the style of action I prefer for my guns, be they mauser or winchester.
