Mark X build questions
Hello all,

I purchased a Interarms Mark X with the purpose of building an all weather 7x57. I also have a remington 700 LA that I was going to use before I found the Mark X. Does 7x57 fit better on one or the other? What if any improvements should I do to the Mark X? I thought I would barrel a Douglass #2 and use a McMillan Mark X stock.

Either one would work just fine as a 7x57. I would add a good set of sights and have a good all weather finish applied. www.bearcoat.com .

Thanks for the reply. That was my thought to cerakote it and possibly add some sights. Is there any difference in the Magazine lengths between them a MarkX and a 700?

The Remington will be about 3.600". The Mark X will be about 3.4 on the standard length.

Thanks. I think that gives the edge to the Mark X. I think a 7x57 needs a Mauser anyway.

My wife shoots a MKX 7x57. We set it up with a little longer OAL for her 140Accubonds

This is my 35 year old 7mm Mark-X with the original finish. They were well made and reliable. She stands up to hard use and keeps running.

I agree that the 7x57 needs a Mauser action, and the Mark X will be perfect.

@Gary,

I see that yours sports a ghost ring -- looks to be the business.

Who makes these?

Also, what stock have you got on your Mark X there? Looks good too!

Cheers

Just my .02 cents but I would use each action differently. The Mark X should be in an old mauser classic wood stock but the 700 could go in a synthetic. I am funny that way.

+1 on the Mark X.
Save the REmmy 700 LA for a magnum length build.
