rebarreling a rem 721
Can anyone tell me if a short chambered rem 700 barrel would fit a rem 721 action? I've done a couple of mauser 98's with Brownell's short chambered barrels and they have worked fine.

muzzle,
according to Frank de Haas he says, although the 700's have changed somewhat since that time ,their actions, except for the trigger guard and magazine are still almost identical to the original 721-722 actions. in his barrel shank drawings he doesn't show the 700 only the 721,722,and 725. i'm sure it'll fit. hope this helps

It'll screw right in. They all have the same 1-1/16"x16tpi threads. This includes the 600/660/Seven,721,722,725,and 700.

I prefer the long chambered ones. PacNor is my favorite. Screw it on, measure headapace, remove the right amount of shoulder and your done. No reamer necessary. With barrels that don't have and extractor cut it makes a lot of sense.
