mikethebearControl Round Feeding
Here are some of my finding on my own rifles. I have a Browning FN mauser. It CR's like a champ.
I have a Model 70 stainless classic with a wood stock. It feeds as good as the FN. I have a stainless model 77 II, and it's CR feed sucks. It does shoot as good as the browning.
Here is some other info. I have a Model 70 classic compact in 7mm-08. It CR feeds as good as any. I have had it for a while, maybe 10 years. I have a model 70 compact classic compact 308. It will cr from the right side, but not the left. It has a much higher serial number than the 7mm-08 so I assume it is newer.
This puzzled me for some time, until I noticed that there was a cutout on the left side of the receiver at the magazine box. The cartridge jumps out too soon. Could this be for the WSM family and they just made a generic short action, or did they put the wrong barrel on the receiver?
Not much to do about it now.
