Weaver base and Leupold QR rings for Weaver style bases.

While the Leupold QRW rings mentioned above are very good, the Weaver Grand Slams detachable rings might work pretty good for what you have in mind and are cheaper.

I bought the Weaver #74 for my Savage ( originally .223/20, now 6X45mm/20), and the Warne quick release mounts. The scope is an old Weaver 2.5-7X. I took the leaf sight off and replaced it with a peep sight ( I have never shot any irons but peeps with any degree of accuracy ). The Warne mounts were a little pricey but work well. There are not many choices for a base other than the Weaver ( meaning that I didn't find any other choices ).
