SuperMagnumrem 700 SPS finish
Is the matte finish on the Rem 700 SPS rifle as rust prone like the Rem 870 Express pump shotguns?
Thanks
I have a stainless SPS and due to my neglect it did get a very very very light coat of rust the bolt handel. It was easily taken off with hoppes and a towel in about 2 minutes.
I have never seen rust on the action or the barrel though.
I've seen two SPS's in the gunstore, brand new ... with a light rust coating on bolts and rear receiver. I think this finish traps moisture rather well.
Cheers...

SnowwolfeSon spent 8 days with me on Kodiak Island deer hunting last Novemeber. We camped out within 30 feet of the ocean and hunted in either snow or rain every day. Never wiped the rifle down during the entire hunt and it did not have a spec of rust on it anywhere when we returned home.
