TiALN Coating
Can anyone tell me about a coating called: TiALN?

Is it weather resistant? Will it chip easily? Is it longlasting? does it need to be re-aplied now and then?

Any info would be appreciated!

TiALN is a vapor depostion coating, applied in a vacume chamber. TiALN is used to coat carbide tooling and hss tooling in the machining industry. Extremely wear resistant. Will not chip because it's applied at such a fine level,
it's like trying to chip blueing. It's not gobby like cera-kote or teflon.

Thank you Timan.

Sounds like it would be a good choice for guns which will be used in tough conditions. I asked because I saw on this gentlemans website that he offers TiALN coating of rifles:
