could somebody put a picture up of a Pre 64 and a Post 64 stock...top view of the action area only. I need to settle a discussion I'm having with a guy I sold a stock to. If somebody can list the differences I'd appreciate that as well.Thanks folks. Ron

I don't have pics of either, but if the question is whether or not they are interchangeable the answer is they are not.

The post '64 stock is either to short or to long depending on whether or not it was a short or long action (in the action inletting) compared to a pre ’64.

In other words the pre ’64 action is in between the post ’64 short and long actions in length.

The pre 64 M70's had two different variations in the tang area. The pre war and some of the transition rifles had a cloverleaf tang while the later ones had a spade tang.

Here is a transition (1947)and prewar tang.



All standard grade pre 64's had the "dog knot" barrel and forend screw.

Here is a 1955 M70 Tang, similar to the post 64's
