Do you mean the slide tube? If so there is a hole in the tube to which you insert a punch of the correct size to turn it out. Other that that, if it is that tight you may need to destroy it to get it out.

Remington calls it the action tube as it is attached to the action bolt, the slide slides over it and yes there are 4 holes for a spanner wrench , which I don't have ! need one to get this part off action ! I was told by a compident smith that they used locktite , must be red as it will not come apart with heat ! If there is a wrench available please advise where to obtain it or I will have to make one for this job ! Thanks Concho

I've done a couple of older 760s and there was no Loctite. As Mr. Kobe said, just insert a punch or other correctly sized rod and unscrew it. It may take a bit of torque to break it loose (from age) but then it should come out easily.

Trigger can you read ? I cannot get it off ! that way, If I could it would have been off and I would have never came here for help ! I used Blaster fluid in it for days and it will not move , I broke ejection pins with a pipe trying to remove it ! I need a wrench or make one for it to come loose ! I contacted Brownells for the wrench ! No reply yet ! Your experience with this part was simple for you this one is not simple !

Yes I can read and yes, its a simple problem. The tube is TOO F****G TIGHT! BTW, where in your post did you say you used a punch?

The spanner doesn't do anything a rod can't do as well. The difference is the handle is longer than a punch and has more leverage. And if you're going to be cranky to people trying to help, you might as well not waste your time asking for opinions.

The way to 'break' any Loctite bond is to tighten it a little more to crush the Loctite crystals into powder. Have you tried that?

Fellows Thank you for your advice ! I made a horseshue style wrench with dowl pin that went between the 3/4 " hole, I reamed holes .188 The tube came apart and it was FILLED WITH RED LOCKTITE ! I heated it and used Blaster Purchased from auto zone ,nothing would get this apart till I made the wrench for it ! Oh possibly a pipe wrench and ruine the tube ?
Trigger please forgive my attitude as I was just venting and you were available ! Brownells do not have a wrench and I assume there is none made for this as it is so simple to remove ! unless some stupid bastard uses RED LOCKTITE ON THE THREADS !

Years ago Menck used to make a tool to remove these. I haven't seen them listed in a long time but there should be some floating around. It basically does what Concho42 said except the dowel pin was the correct size to fit without reaming the holes. It consisted of a pin and a C shaped tool head on a handle that slipped over the pin allowing it to be turned.

vip, I did not ream the holes in the tube I reamed the wrench holes for the .1875 dowl pin to fit the wrench , sorry I was not clear about that , the gun is a disaster chamber is rusted and bolt face is blown partially away where extractor was, Called the eastern repair servise Sportsmans Haven for a new Breech bolt ! Restricted part and they will not sell ! barrel and bolt would have to be fitted by them only ! and the cost is way over the value of the rifle ! Thanks all ! concho
