fix the muzzle heavy feeling
Gents:

If one had a rifle that felt muzzle heavy could it be adjusted by lopping off an inch or two from the barrel's length then recrowning and reinstalling the front sights?

That would help. What is the barrel contour? There is the option of fluting if the contour will allow. You might as well just rebarrel to a lighter contour for what a fluting job will cost.

Try to look unimportant. Your enemy might be low on ammo.

A little weight under the recoil pad can do wonders. try it and if it doesn't suit you, you aren't out a thing.

Cutting the barrel should be a last resort. Add a bit of weight to the butt stock!

Thanks all. the rifle in question is a model 70 375 with factory barrel and a stock that was buuilt but appears to be unfinished as it has no checkering or cheekpiece. the latter I can live without but I would have it checkered.
