I have a Rem. 700 VLS in .243 and what I was wondering is if you could cut the bbl. down from 26" to 22 or 23".

I like the heavy bbl. but I just don't like all the weight that goes with it.

I know I will lose velocity but will anything else be sacrificed.

Quite a dilemna.

You will lose about 150-200 fps velocity. and about half pound of weight. And about 150 dollars of value. Maybe more.

If you get the barrel off, send it to me and I'll shorten and recrown it for you for $20 + shipping.
