Charles Daly and Howa actions
I was wondering about the quality of the Chas Daly and Howa actions and barreled actions.

Anyone tried one? Where are they made?

Thanks,
Jerry

Howa's are Janapese, whereas Charles Daly's are the old Mark X actions, made in Europe.
I traded my 30-06 Howa barreled action with my brother, not having stocked it, nor having shot it. It did seem to be a fine push-feed action none the less. I've converted to total CRF, and would rather have the CD (which is why I parted with the Howa). Nothing wrong, mind you, just a personal choice. ~~~Suluuq

Hi Jerry:

I have a Charles Daly Field Grade rifle and can vouch for the good quality of their action. It does not have a high polish, but is a very good Mauser action with side slide safety, adjustable trigger, button-release floorplate, etc. The whole rifle is less expensive than what most places are getting for bare actions. They are made in the Zastava plant and cannot be imported into this country until Congress passes a bill (see the Charles Daly website: Charles Daly ).

I don't think you would be disappointed with one.

Thanks, reedg.
I figured that they were good actions.
I don't understand the "They are made in the Zastava plant and cannot be imported into this country until Congress passes a bill."

They are being advertised and how did you get yours?

Thanks again,
Jerry

The Howa action is the Weathrby Vanguard. I have a Howa that is now barreled in 300 Savage. It shoots well and the action works as well as others. The trigger needed to be worked on, but what factory trigger doesn't?
