They are basically the same as a LR 98 except using SR threads. I find that most have a shank about .625" to .630" long. Much of that depends on how much material one removed from the front of the ring when truing and/or removing the lip.

parryjOn this same forum I was told the ring was .705 long if you just took off the lip.

parryjI have threaded and short chambered several barrels for Turkish 98, small ring thread barrels. I have made the threaded shank .705 inch long. A customer contacted me and said that there was a gap of about 1/8 inch at the sholder when installed on his action. Were these actions made with differing lengths on the front ring?

You were told wrong. At least in regards to the K.Kale marked Turks. The 1903 may be different but it is a relative rarity when compared to the vast numbers of K.Kale 98's on the market. I don't own and have never seen a 1903 so I cannot comment on its dimensions. Your reports of 1/8" gaps would seem to support my findings.
