ElkslayerHow to remove old bedding?
I have rebarrelled a rifle whose stock (synthetic) was bedded for the old barrel. The new barrel has a different contour and the bedding in the stock under the first 2" of barrel must be taken down a bit.
Anyone have any tricks to do this?

<JBelk>A sharp gouge and a hammer usually takes about two minutes to remove barrel channel bedding.

Cal SibleyBoth methods work well. It's a case really of whether you trust yourself with a sharp chisel and hammer. One bad twack and you're in trouble. A good sanding with a dremel tool will do the job, but take considerably longer. Best wishes.

I use a dremel tool. Be careful though, if it gets away from you it can really mess up your stock's finish!

rootbeerI've used about a pound of C-4, but it tends to honk off the neighbors when the concussion blows out their windows. Draws the law, too...
