bisonlandMauser Identification: Any Help here?
Hi: I have a Mauser barreled action, it is a large ring Mauser...but distance between action bolts are of the small Mauser Type...On the left side of the receiver are lines of writing in Cyrillic (Like Russian Alphabet). Atop receiver ring is an
elaborate coat of arms insignia...probably the
Country's ID..it has a crown with a cross on top, the cross is like a simple religious type, then from the bottom of the crown has extensions to the outside with like draperies in folds...then an inside crown like shield. behind this is stamped a Cyrillic word ...Mo...
cyrillic letters then the date 1924. Someone said it might be a yugoslavic military mauser.
I don't have a Mauser Book...so wonder if anyone here has an idea of what Mauser it is?
Thanks in advance, Tom

Bill McI would almost bet it's a Model 1930 Greek 7.9 mm short rifle made in Belgium by FN
I try to post a picture of the crest tomorrow unless you can post a picture.

South40The crest is Serbian (Yugoslavia). You probably have a M24 action -- S40
