Mauser question
I would like to get a spare bolt which will fit my VZ-24 action, so I can open it up to a magnum bolt face. BUT, I am not absolutely certain which other Mauser bolts will also fit the VZ-24. I suspect the standard K98k bolt will, for instance, but don't actually know. Would you guys please tell me of any which WILL fit the VZ-24?

K98, Gew 98, Steyr 1912, Brazilian 1908, Argentine 1909, any standard length 98 bolt will work. this includes commercial bolts like the FN or Interarms Mk X.

Thanks. I am still a bit confused. Most of the Czech models as well as the Yugoslavs I have seen advertised lately have magazine boxes shorter than the VZ24. Does that also mean their bolts are shorter? I do not have the opportunity to look at them locally, and it has been 30 years since I used to collect commercially finished European and English Mausers, so I don't even try to use my memory in that regard.

I thought maybe the Argentine M98 (1909) would work and I know where I can get one of those bolts complete, with bent handle for a scope, for $40. Thanks again for the info.

Yugo bolts are shorter as they are intermediate actions. The Czechs made standard 98's thus they will work in your action.

Which Czech actions are you seeing that have shorter magazines? It is possible that the vz24's in 7mm had shorter boxes but their bolts would still be the same length.

If you can get the 1909 bolt complete for $40 then I would do so provided it is in good shape.

Last year I got some VZ24s from Century without bolts.

I got some 98 Mauser bolt assemblies from Sarco for $37. They fit and they work, but the extractors are purple .

Interarms Mk X.

That would be a early model not the current bolts as they are of the "speed Lock" design. Then you would have to do an entire bolt & trigger swap out.
