BOSS on a Winchester Model 70

I'm looking to replace the BOSS unit on a Winchester Model 70 in 300 Win Mag with the CR version of the BOSS. This is the one without any holes in it. Want to spare my hearing. Am I able to use the Browning version of the CR, since it appears that Winchester no longer manufactures rifles with the BOSS, or am I out of luck?

Does the rifle shoot well without that thing in place? If so take it off wack off the threaded portion on the end of the barrel and call it a day.

I bought a stainless steel "BOSS" CR from Winchester and I don't need it. If you want it, I will sell it to you for what they charged me (18.00 +/-).
