vapodogThe last Mauser
Every time I build something on a Mauser I say it's the last time....but not this time. I'm so happy with this one that I can easily say "to hell with the M-70"....except for magnums however, A 375 H&H is in the works on a M-70.
Acknowlegements:
Stock blank.....Greg at Outdoor Sports McCook NE
blank routing...Dennis Olson, plains, Montana
Trigger.........Timney, Coyote Arms, Hamlet NE
Safety..........Dakota 3-Pos, Brownells
Bolt Handle.....Jim Kobe, Minneapolis
Barrel..........Douglass XX #1 contour
Action..........VZ-24, Coyote Arms, Hamlet NE
Iron Sights.....Williams, Brownells
Bluing..........Gunstop, St Bonnefacious, MN
Stock bedding...Jim Kobe....a great job!!
bottom metal....Parker Hale aluminum annodized
Sling swivels...Dakota, Brownells (not yet installed)
Chamber reamer..6.5 X 55, Manson, Brownells
Stock fittings..Ebony
Butt pad........Pachmeyer
Checkering......Carol at Ahlmans, Morristown MN
All the work is mine except the above noted services I purchased. A major league thank you to all that helped.
The wood is bastogne only because I had the blank....I'd have preferred Claro for a 6.5 Swede to keep it lighter. As it is the weight is 6lb 13 Oz. Much weight loss is due to the #1 contour 21" barrel and the aluminum bottom metal. I also milled away a lot of wood under the barrel and butt stock.
Vapo,
Thats a beauty ,I need me one of dem'
I agree, it turned very nice.
Congratulations!

I like that thin recoild pad. exactly which model or part number is it?

vapodogIt's a thin (1/4") Pachmayr rubber pad for nothing more than preventing slipping when the gun is set on a smooth floor.
It says "Sure Grip"

KetchikanVery nice rifle.
But I have promised to not spend the money on another 98, well except for the one I just ironed out the details on with my smith last weekend.......
ENJOY!
