Arild Iversen9,3x64 in a 338 Winmag?
Is it an easy task to rebuild an Ruger M77 / 338 Winmag to 9,3x64?
Magasine lenght should be ok, but what about the bolt face?

ramrod340I see bolt face as an issue. The 338 is .532 the 9.3x64 is .496. I would prefer to take an 06 open the face and swap the magbox and follower if needed.

x2. It's the easiest way to do it.

KabluewyWhen I was faced with that decision, my choice was to go with the 9.3x338, and use the Ruger action unmodified. Given the same choices, I would make the same decision again, as I have been very satisfied with my 366 Alaskan wildcat. Even though it ballistically duplicates the 9.3x64, I find that the absence of feeding issues, and the ease of finding brass is a real plus.

Tex21The .338 and 30-06 use the same length action.
Buy a stripped 30-06 type M77 bolt, open it up for the x64 case, and transfer the rest of the parts over to the new bolt.

Arild IversenThanks for answers guys.
Next question...
To make a -64 out of a -62 , what needs to be done?
Not many 9,3-64 around, but truckloads of 9,3-62.

Open the boltface, maybe a little feed work and rechamber.
