Model 70 Super Express Front Sights
I've got a Model 70 Super Express in .375 H&H and am considering changing the front sight bead to a post. Are there replacement sights that fit the existing dovetail? If I decide to take off the ramp, is it held solely by the two screws into the barrel or is it also soldered on? Any suggestions out there?

Wink....it's not soldered.....and the solution is to buy a very high new bead and file off the bead leaving only a post....

I've never found posts.....but the bead can be removed

Brownell's sells sight blanks (I think that's what they're called). It's right in there around the other rifle fron sight inserts. It's a huge square blade with a nominal 3/8" dovetail, and it's made to be filed or ground down to whatever size, shape, finish you want. They are sold in two different widths.

If I'm not mistaken, your original front sight (ramp with a hood) was made by Williams, and either the Williams or Marble inserts ought to work.

Thank you Vapodog and HenryC470. I'll get back on the web to order something appropriate. The country of France doesn't keep much inventory.
