<Rye>Accurizing a RIfle?
I have a weatherby accumark in a .30-.378
and I am considering having it "Accurized"
I am told that this includes trigger work,
Lapping the lugs, truing the bolt and receiver, hand lapping the barrel and
cyroing the barrel.
My Weatherby is right out of the box with about 100 rounds through it. Will this accurizing make a noticeable difference in
accuracy? Can they chroy the barrel with the
scope on? Aren't the bolt and receiver trued
at the factory?
thanks for your feedback.

<Don G>The scope and sights should come off before cryo. I did not see pillar bedding the action in your list. That and a trigger job is where I start.
As to how much it will improve - that is a big question. How does it shoot now? Not best group, but average.

<BigBores>What kind of groups are you getting now? Are you shooting factory ammo or handloads? What kind of barrel break in/cleaning regimen are you using? You absolutely HAVE to take the scope off to cryo the barreled action. If you do have it cryo'd, have the barrel lapped AFTER not before. You may not see much improvement with all the work, it depends on how it performs now. I would think that shooting carefully made handloads, and a good trigger job, will work better than all the rest of the "window dressing" stuff. That stuff is usually for rifles that start out in poor shape to begin with. Just my pennies worth.

bobby van der Putten"Make it accurate" by Craig Boddington, great reading, even if you don't do it yourself.

AtkinsonGo shoot the gun first!!! If it shoots an inch then why fix something that ain't broke..or an 1.5" for that matter...A lot of that "blueprinting" is hype to take ones money...your gun should have a good trigger, as most weatherbys do as I recall...
