Difference in Ruger MKII and Hawkeye trigger???

I would like to know the difference in the triggers comparing the 77 MKII and the Hawkeye.

I am familiar with the MKII trigger and know that it was/is routine to replace it with a Timney, or just honing the factory trigger helped significantly too. It was/is a relatively easy job.

Now with the Hawkeye, I just don't know, if there are any replacment triggers out there, or if there is a need anymore. Also for example, perhaps Ruger made the mechanism so difficult to replace with after market parts, there just aren't any. IMO, that's what Ruger woud do, and call it "improved".

I am sure that they were the same fundimental trigger with the Hawkeye (LC-2 or some such jibberish ??) trigger, perhaps, receiving
a bit more care with the hands of somebody regarding final fit, engagement and angles. I have an older MKII on an RSI that I reworked into a fine trigger and I have a new SS 7x57 RSI that I did the same to. Didn't recall any difference in the two trigger assy's.

I have both, and the LC-6 trigger on the Hawkeye is lighter and crisper than the MkII. Both are as they left the factory. Not sure of the difference. Ruger offers a factory upgrade for about $45.

I think I answered my own question. I tried calling Timney several times, but couldn't get through. It's as though they designed their phone system to prevent calls from getting through to a person for customer service. Mission accomplished.

So, I called Brownells, and asked a tech. He said the Timney trigger for the 77 MKII will not work on the Hawkeye. The only replacment trigger he knows of and Brownell's carries for the Hawkeye is made by Spec Tech.

That means to me that there is a difference in comparing the MKII trigger with the Hawkeye, other than just refinment of the MKII trigger.

I just hope it's for the better. Often when a mfg calls something "improved", it's just marketing propaganda.

Think of it this way: LC-2 means Lower Cost Squared.

LC-6 means Lower Costs times six, and so forth. Instead of it being a lawer trigger like the MKII, it's now a Bean-Counter trigger.

I'm not familiar with the old triggers but just had a trigger job done on a Hawkeye in 223.

It went from a gritty 4.5 lb stiff pull to a crisp consistent smooth 2 lb's.

A good trigger job is doable.

As I wrote, the basic design is the same as I have tuned both to be flawless triggers.

That's the bottom line I am looking for. I have some Ruger MKIIs with tuned triggers, and they are good that way.

I was just trying to settle the issue in my knowledge bank, in case I run across a good deal in a Hawkeye.
