<Stu>Selous Actions
I've been looking at Selous mauser actions web site. Has anyone seen either the action or one of their rifles? They claim to make a true mauser action - left hand actions are available (hooray!!!)
These actions are made in South Africa and I'm not sure if they're imported into the States. I've seen them advertised in Australia but haven't had a chance to look at one yet. Just wondering if anyone has had a chance to look one over first hand. What were your impressions? I'd love to use mauser instead of a Remington when I go to Africa

<Bill Tompkins>Stu,
We've built a few rifles on these actions and they turn out quite good. They require some extra finishing but so do the run of the mill Remingtons as far as I am concerned.
Butch Searcy is one of the US importers.

<Boltgun>How much does one of these actions usually cost? Are they superior to the CZ 550 actions?

<Bill Tompkins>Todd,
Check with Butch Searcy as he has a distributorship. We were supplied with the receivers to build the rifles. It seems that when I e-mailed Selous Rifles that they indicated something in the neighborhood of $2200.00 USD. I'd have to check my notes. They do have a website that lists prices.
