I've seen this question posted a few times over the past 12-18 months, but never seen any responses.

I've though about ordering a stock from Richard's Microfit with extra wood. But it would be cool if some had a good start pattern.

I had my stock for '98 Mauser routed by Dennis Olsen of Plains Montana. It came with extra wood at the tip of the forend so I could shape it anyway I wanted.

Further it was available in blind magazine and didn't have a lot of wood to remove on the balance of the stock

It was an excellent inlet IMO.....far better than anything I ever got from Microfit.

here is the stock

I picked up a rosewood semi-inlet that an AR member posted here last fall. Should be fun! Will post pics when done.

I purchased one recently from Richards, at the same time I was having an 03 stock turned. I didn't have a long enough blank for a mannlicher. They did a reasonably good job. Fit was good (M98) and finishing the inletting was easy. The only problem I had was the size of the forend. I ordered the 03 with a round forend on the Old Classic pattern. The mannlicher is made withe the oval forend. They say this is to provide stability. I had to remove a lot of wood from the 03 to get the forend trim enough. I had to plane and rasp the mannlicher most of a day to bring it down small enough to mount the tip. I then put it aside and came back to it later to remove more wood. Seems like I could never get it as trim as one of my original mannlichers. I did eventually ge it small enough to have a nice balanced look. Unless you want the clubby look of one of the new CZ's, don't order extra wood. My standard one had a large enough forend to do any kind of carved forend treatment you would want.

What was the wait time from Richard's ?

Best way to remove A LOT of wood without rasping is to make a jig that bolts the stock top down onto a piece of plywood and then set at an angle and run through a table saw. Do both sides; then rotate 90 degrees and do the bottom. Then use the rasp to blend the areas.

I had to wait 4-1/2 months on the Springfield turning. Tje mannlicher for the M98 was shipped in 2 months.

The Mk10 has a slightly different floorplate as to length than the M98. Also, some but not all Mk10s are inlet for the side safety.

Contact Al Lind at the ACGG site. Does great work reasonably and with a quick turn around.

I have a blank from Gordon Smith of Old Tree Gun Blanks headed to Al Lind. Both great guys to deal with. I will post some pics of the progress. Thanks!
