Best Model 70 Aftermarket Trigger?
Long time reader and lurker, first time poster. I'm getting a new SS Winchester Model 70 Classic in .338 Win Mag. I'm thinking about putting an aftermarket trigger on it if I can't get the factory one adjusted to where I like it. What are some good aftermarket triggers that I can install myself and are not going to require me to take the rifle to a gunsmith to be fitted? Thanks for the help.

I've installed a Timney.....it's not as easy as installing them to a Mauser but it's not hard too.

FWIW the standard M-70 trigger is very adjustable for weight of pull and after travel but creep isn't adjustable. I take this out using my surface grinder.....can you find someone there to do it for you?

I'd agree with the above, the M70 trigger is one of the best, just needs a little tuning. A decent smith will do it for under $50 and the results can be great.

Don't change the trigger, just find a good gunsmith to go over it. The end result will be a better and less expensive trigger than the aftermarket variety.

the best after market trigger for the 70 is just that the M 70 ...just take it to some body who UNDERSTANDS the M 70 trigger...

Mark Penrod is an expert on Mod. 70 triggers he has done four for me. Nice clean pull at 2.5 pounds.

Thanks for the welcome.

Does anyone have any recommendations of a good Model 70 gunsmith in the Dallas, TX area?

This is the last shop I used, and I would use them again:

Williamson Precision Gunsmithing
Address: 117 W Pipeline Rd, Hurst, TX 76053
Phone: (817) 285-0064

They worked on my 9.3x62, but it is a Model 54 not a 70 and they did not work on the trigger. MacD37 recomended them to me.
