I would like to have a hinged floorplate for the rifle and thought about maybe using the bottom metal from a Model 1909 which can be picked surplus for pretty cheap. Much cheaper than some of the aftermarket metal prices I've seen. Would this bottom metal work with a vz24? And should it work with the 7x57 given that it's box was originally designed for the 7.65 Mauser?
Or is there a better way to go with this project? My main desire is that the rifle be built on a Mauser.
Thanks,
Brian

Another option, befitting a Mauser 7x57 (IMO) is the Meier floorplate release lever from Brownells, easily installed on the VZ-24 floorplate.
Good luck,
Todd
I'm curious why folks are always fond of hinged triggerguards (other than drop boxes for increased capacity)? How often do you unload your rifle this way? Or is it just a matter of aesthetics?
