.358Baush & Lomb Elite 3000 scope ?
A place has these on sale for 149.00, it's all I can afford with deer season so close. Anyone had anyexperience with this scope or could you suggest an alternative in the same price range. I'm going to put it on a .270 pump. How high should I sight in with factory 130's to make a good hit at 300 yds and yet not miss at a closer range say 175 yds. Thanks !

waxmanI have a B& L 3000 mounted on a M70 7x57. Its a nice enough scope but I haven't hunted with it. For about the same amount of money I prefer a Simmons Aetec.

downwindtracker2It's the Elite 3200 with out the rainguard coating, the 3x9 are good, but I have heard of problems with 2x7 model.Go with the closeout prices.good hunting.

dempseyBearbasin.com probably still has them for that price, 3x-9x. I like mine. I also have a 3200 2-7 and a 4200 1-6. The 4200 is on my .416, so far so good.

sdgunslingerNatchess has the Weaver 3x9 Classics for $129 . An alternative you might consider if money is tight . Or just a good old K4 at the same place for less than $100 .
Sight your .270 3 inches high at 100 yards and you can still hold dead on at 300 ......

EremicusA good choice. They have a better reputation for holding up than the Simmons, or the Weaver. Good optically too.
I'd go no more than 2.0-2.5 inches high at 100 for a point blank range of 300 yds. If you don't check the point of impact at 200 yds., you may inadvertly be plus 5 at 200 yds. This can cause a miss at this range when accuracy of the rifle and shooter wobble are factored in. E

sdgunslingerHave been using the 3 inch high sighting on a variety of rifles for thirty years and mid range height has not yet been a problem . To each his own though .
I am not knocking the Elite scope either . But I have had a new K6 on my truck and tractor rifle since last fall and it has stood up to more dust , moisture , and jolting abuse than I doubt the average hunting scope sees in a lifetime . There aren't many flies on those Weavers for the price asked ........

JeffPDitto sdgunslinger...3" high at 100 puts me zero
at 200.
The one and only elite I owned was the 3-9,the recticle came apart. They refunded my money but
it happened on a hunt. But they all will have some
defective ones.
The scope was very clear though.

StonecreekSince you can get a Leupold VX-I for only about $30 more, why take the chance on a scope which will have negligible resale value if you don't like it?

jrslateGentlemen,
I hunt with a Bausch & Lomb Elite 3000 3x-9x on my 7mm Rem Magnum, and I think it an EXCELLENT scope. It is always bright and clear, it holds it's adjustments, and it never fogs. I believe it is optically superior to a Leopold Vari-X II, but maybe not a vari-X III. Buy a few and don't look back..!!
