Remington 700 action size for 7MM Rem. Mag
I'm trying to find an original BDL stock for a 1961 700 BDL in 7mm Rem. Magnum.

Is this action the standard long action or the magnum length long action?

I thought the 700 was either short action or long. Only magnum I'm aware of is the bolt face.

As usual just my $.02

Thanks Paul, I just called Brownells and you are correct, two different lengths with different bolt faces.

Anyone have a picture of what a 1962 factory BDL stock looked like? Basket weave checkering? White line spacer?

When ordering Remington factory stocks, the "magnum" refers to the contour of the barrel and the channel provided in the stock. The 7mm Rem Magnum would be the same long action length, but most likely it came with a wider contour than Remington would build a non-magnum, 30-06 for example.

So you would probably need a magnum stock. This is what I needed when I got one for a 264 Win.

Could be but a little time and sandpaper would open it up if need be.

According to my 1963 Gun Digest:

Remington 700-BDL,

Same specs as Model 700-ADL except: Fleur-de-lis checkering; black for-end tip; white line buttplate and for-end tip spacers. Recoil pad supplied on .264 Mag. and 7mm Mag.

I'm guessing the stocks would be the same. I know the ADL stock was the same 62-68. I have an originally stocked 1962 ADL, if it will help I can take a picture of it and post it.

Wasn't 1962 the first year of the 700?

Yes it was, 1962 first year for the 7mm. Mag.
If you have a pic please send it, would like to get this rifle back to original.

thanks, Rob
